Our oldest son Jamie who is 10 is developing a real passion for carpentry and spends many hours in his own shed taking on various projects. We built his him own shed last Christmas and he is saving all his pocket money to buy new tools and equipment.

Children's shed. The Wooden Workshop, Oakford, Devon. (2)

We keep chickens at home and Jamie has built them a new perch and a chicken food hook to hang their tasty treats on

Children are wrapped up so much now in cotton wool and all these vital skills I feel are being lost with his generation. Health and safety means schools hand are tied and these children do not get to experience the hands on approach. Jamie is very sensible with all his tools and takes great care of them. His skill are improving daily and I for one think it is marvellous that he has such a passion and is learning skills which will be valued later in life.
