Diamond Panelled Iroko Gates

Description

These Diamond Panelled Iroko Gates were built for a home in Guernsey. This set consists of double driveway gates with full automation and a smaller pedestrian gate. Iroko is an excellent choice for these gates, to the coastal exposure. Iroko is one of the most hard wearing of all the hardwoods and requires very little treatment to protect it from the elements. The gates were finished with marine grade 316 stainless steel furniture to avoid any rust damage.

Design and Features

These gates combine security with style. The secure closed board design is given an extra level of detail, with pretty diamond patterned panelling to the bottom and tongue and groove panels to the top. The driveways gates are fully automated with a underground system and we installed a Teleguard system to operate the gates , operated by both key fob and code and can also be activated remotely from inside the house. Built to withstand the elements including the harsh coastal winds .

Construction and Installation

Hand built in our Devon workshop, these Iroko gates were built using full tenon and mortise joinery throughout. Marine grade, stainless steel hinges and latches were used to resist the abrasive sea air and the gates were treated with Sikkens stain in light Oak to provide maximum protection and create a warm natural colour.

I had a Workshop built by The Wooden Workshop earlier this year (2023). It was installed on a concrete plinth which was also created by them. I opted to have it insulated, which was no problem to the company. I must say that I am absolutely over the moon with the quality of the build, everyone who sees it comments on how good it looks. The team at Wooden Workshop did a great job making bespoke oak drive gates for my Grade II* listed property. From our first visit to their excellent workshop to them fitting the gates on site they were professional and highly skilled. Laura kept us informed and answered all our questions promptly.
